First Aid Training for Yacht Crews

That's why we recently decided to take the team in batches with the first group attending today on a first aid training course. For a full day, our crew learned the essential lifesaving techniques that can make a difference in emergency situations out at sea. We'll share some highlights from this experience and how it has prepared our team to deliver the highest level of safety and service on board our luxury yachts.

The Importance of First Aid Training:

While our crew members are already experienced in the maritime industry, we understand that emergencies can happen at any time. By equipping our staff with first aid skills, we're ensuring that they're prepared to respond quickly and effectively to any medical situation that may arise during a yacht charter.

Course Overview:

We partnered with a renowned marine safety training provider Portugal Sailing and Power to create a comprehensive first aid course tailored to the unique environment of our yacht charters. This one-day course covered a range of topics, including:

• CPR and AED 
• Treating cuts, burns, and fractures
• Managing seasickness and dehydration
• Recognizing and responding to heatstroke and hypothermia
• Evacuation procedures and emergency communication

Hands-On Learning:

Our crew not only learned the theory behind first aid but also had the opportunity to practice these skills in realistic scenarios. They performed CPR on mannequins, applied bandages and splints, and practiced using an AED. These hands-on exercises allowed our team to build their confidence in applying these lifesaving techniques in real-life situations.

Team Building and Communication:

The first aid training day not only served as a valuable learning experience but also as an opportunity for team building. Our staff collaborated in groups to tackle various emergency scenarios, enhancing their communication and problem-solving skills. This teamwork will be invaluable when they face challenges together on board our yachts.
