Pre-Departure Preparation

Before embarking on our journey from Laguna Marina, Malta, to Vilamoura, Portugal, with a Princess 77 Flybridge motor yacht, our team at Timeless Moments conducted thorough pre-departure preparations to ensure a safe and smooth voyage.

Safety Checks

We began with a comprehensive inspection of the yacht:

  • Engine and Mechanical Systems: Inspected engines, generators, fuel systems, and hydraulics.
  • Electrical Systems: Tested navigation lights, communication devices, and onboard electronics.
  • Safety Equipment: Confirmed life jackets, lifeboats, fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and emergency flares were present and in good working order.
  • Provisioning: Stocked the yacht with necessary supplies, including food, water, and fuel, ensuring redundancy for essential items.

Navigation Planning

Our navigation planning included several critical steps:

  • Weather Analysis: Assessed weather forecasts for the entire route to avoid adverse conditions.
  • Route Planning: Charted a course that considered fuel stops, overnight stays, and potential hazards.
  • Fuel Calculation: Estimated fuel consumption at an average speed of 18 knots to determine necessary refueling points.
  • Marina Coordination: Contacted marinas in advance to arrange berths for overnight stays and refueling.
