Vilamoura is the largest purpose built tourist resort in Europe with over 250000 beds available as accommodation during the peak season. Located on the south coast of Portugal at the very centre of the Algarve Vilamoura has something for everybody and is a top international destination for many kinds of tourism, for families, golfers, sports tourism, boats and yachting.
Vilamoura is the base for Yacht Charters and Private Hire yachts in Portugal. The location of Vilamoura is a dividing point on the coast line and makes for the perfect start point for your yacht charter. Leave the marina and head west and as soon as you leave the entrance of the marina you begin to see the cliffs of Falesia beach which define the coastline west of Vilamoura. The rocky headlands, sea caves, hidden beaches and secluded swimming spots all unique to the region and a draw for tourists from across the globe. Cruising west from Vilamoura you can reach the famous Benagil Cave which again is one of the most famous spots on the coastline and is a must see for anybody visiting the Algarve.
Vilamoura is built around a 1000 berth marina that constantly picks up awards for international marina of the year and is the largest marina in Portugal. Vilamoura Marina is surrounded by restaurants, bars, shops and is the pumping heart of this vibrant town in summer months. The marina is pedestrianised with access by car only to boat owners and maintenance/businesses in season making it the perfect family place to stroll with the kids and let them run free.
Vilamoura has a few distinct seasons in terms of tourism and we see May through to Early September as the peak family summer holiday season with hot sunshine, warmer sea conditions and generally very low chances of rainfall. In September we see the Golf season begin and run through until October where Vilamoura hosts the Portugal Masters at the famous Dom Pedro Victoria Golf Course. The golf season then runs again from February through until May where the mild climate and general energy of the place provide a welcome sanctuary for golfers from across northern Europe trying to escape the miserable weather conditions.
