Delivery Journey from Poole, UK to Vilamoura, Portugal

Pre-Departure Preparation

Before embarking on our journey from Poole, UK to Vilamoura, Portugal, with a Sunseeker 65' motor yacht, our team at Timeless Moments conducted thorough pre-departure preparations to ensure a safe and smooth voyage.

Safety Checks

We started with comprehensive safety checks on the yacht:

  • Hull and Deck Inspection: Examined for any damage or wear.
  • Engine and Mechanical Systems: Checked engines, generators, fuel systems, and hydraulics.
  • Electrical Systems: Tested navigation lights, communication devices, and onboard electronics.
  • Safety Equipment: Verified life jackets, lifeboats, fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and emergency flares were in place and in good condition.
  • Provisioning: Stocked the yacht with necessary supplies, including food, water, and fuel, ensuring redundancy for critical items.

Navigation Planning

Our navigation planning involved several key steps:

  • Weather Forecast: Reviewed weather conditions for the entire route to avoid adverse weather.
  • Route Mapping: Charted a course considering fuel stops, overnight stays, and potential hazards.
  • Fuel Calculation: Calculated fuel consumption at an average speed of 18 knots to determine necessary refuelling points.
  • Port Arrangements: Contacted marinas in advance to secure berths for overnight stays and refuelling.

The Journey

This included checking the engines, navigation systems, and onboard amenities. Satisfied with the performance, we enjoyed a relaxing evening exploring the historic town of Dartmouth.
