Frigate "L'hermione" - Vilamoura

A replica of the "Hermione" frigate, a Concorde-class ship, on board of which the Marquis de Lafayette embarked for North America in 1780, will stop at Portimão on 8, 9, and 10 May.

The scale of this "Freedom Frigate", an initiative organized by the Algarve section of the Union "Des Français de l'étranger", is seen as an occasion to strengthen ties between France and Portugal.

During the last hours of the trip to Portimão, the frigate will be seen in Vilamoura. Timeless Moments will organize all kind of boat trips for unforgettable moments, rent a yacht in Vilamoura and cruise along one the most important historical frigate.

During these three days there will be music and animation shows, theme dinners on board, exhibitions and conferences.

Lafayette departed in "Hermione" for America, where she fought for the revolutionary side in the War of Independence of the United States of America.

The Presidency of the Portuguese Republic, the Portuguese and French Navy, the French Embassies and the United States of America, among other governmental institutions were invited to this event.

The event has the support of the municipality of Portimão and the municipalities of Lagoa, Faro, Loulé, Olhão, Silves, and Lagos.
